Achter de Schermen is a play by W.J. Viljoen.

The original text

Written in what was known as Vereenvoudigde Hollands, it was the first play to by staged by the Stellenbosch branch of the Afrikaanse Taalvereniging (ATV).

Translations and adaptations

It was apparently in later years usually performed in Afrikaans under the same title.

Performance history in South Africa

1906: Performed in the original by the Afrikaanse Taalvereniging (ATV) in Stellenbosch on 31 August 1906.

1908: Performed by an amateur group in Cedarville, Griekwaland-Oos on Thursday May 14.
