The original text
The text for the production included the following Bosman material: 'The Music Maker', 'Dopper and Papist', 'Willem Prinsloo's Peach Brandy', extracts from 'Street Processions', 'Johannesburg', 'The Old Magistrate's Court', 'Cold Stone Jug' and concluded with 'A Bekkersdal Marathon'.

Performance history in South Africa
1969: The show, with Patrick Mynhardt as Oom Schalk Lourens - the best story-teller in the Marico - opened at the Pieter Roos Theatre, (at the Johannesburg Civic Theatre on 4 November 1969.
It went on to tour for almost thirty years, becoming the longest running one-man show in South Africa, still performed on occasion in the 1990s and into the new millennium. It was followed by other selections (e.g. Another Sip of Jerepigo, Just Jerepigo, etc.) The play also did much for the rediscovery of Bosman as an original South African talent.
Other known performances:
1972: The Johannesburg Civic Chamber Theatre production was presented by Michael Brooke at the H.B. Thom Theatre from 31 January to 2 February 1972, directed by Michal Grobbelaar. The show then played at the Brooke Theatre in February 1972 (Stage manager Jannie Swanepoel).
1992: He presented A Sip of Jerepigo at the Pieter Roos Theatre in 1992.
