Gestrafte Nieuwsgierigheid ("Punished Curiosity") is a two-act farce in Dutch-Afrikaans by Melt Brink (1842–1925).

The original text

First performed by Aurora in 1907(?), it originally published as Gestrafte nuwsgierigheid : blijspel in twee bedrijwe vir 5 dames en 1 heer by De Bussy (Pretoria) and HAUM (Cape Town) in 1907, and then reprinted in 1915 and 1920.

Translations and adaptations

Used as one of the texts in the compilation Ons Hou Konsert II by Robert Mohr (1983).

Performances

1907?: Probably first performed by Aurora in Cape Town.

1962: Presented by Universiteitsteater Stellenbosch as Gestrafte Nuuskierigheid.

1983: Performed as part of Ons Hou Konsert II (Melt Brink/Robert Mohr) by CAPAB in Cape Town.
