Gay Gibson . (Born Eileen Isabella Ronnie Gibson: 1926-1947) English actress.

The daughter of an English businessman, Gibson had always hankered after a life on the stage.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

First came to prominence in South Africa where she had appeared in a number of plays as part of her duties with the Women's Auxiliary Territorial Service. She starred in The Man With a Load of Mischief opposite former British boxing champion Eric Boon, The Silver Cord for the REPS in 1947 and Henry Gilbert’s production of Clifford Odets’s Golden Boy (also with Boon in 1947), the last production at The Standard Theatre. She now decided to try her luck in London's West End, embarking the “Durban Castle” on October 10, 1947, but was murdered by James Camb, a steward on the liner.
