He wrote the comedy The Chess Mistress, first produced in 1975 in the Hofmeyr Theatre. He co-wrote the stage version of The Horse-Thief with Willem Steenkamp, first performed 1986.

Winner of the 1820 Settlers Prize for Outstanding Journalism, 1980.
