(b. **/**/**** - d. **/**/****). Actor. Tom Zulu and Goba were the first credited black actors to appear in a South African film, but while Goba at least had something of a career with African Film Productions, the imposing Tom Zulu made just one appearance, albeit in the pivotal role of the Zulu king Dingane (Dingaan in the credits) in De Voortrekkers (1916), directed by Harold M. Shaw. At this stage nothing else is known about him, not even if Tom Zulu was his real name. (FO)
