Toinon et Toinette

Toinon et Toinette is a two act opéra-comique[1], with a libretto by Desbouliers (Jean-Auguste Jullien -1731-1771)[2] and music by François-Joseph Gossec (1734-1829)[3].

First performed in Paris by the Comédiens Italiennes (Hôtel de Bourgogne), 20 June 1767 Published Paris : de La Chevardière ; Lyon : Castaud , [1768]

Performance history in South Africa

1803: Performed in the African Theatre by the French Company under the leadership of Charles Mathurin Villet on Saturday 13 August with Le Tableau Parlant (Anseaume), Les Jardiniers (Davesne) and Le Tonnelier (Audinot).
