The Black Sun (also known simply as the Black Sun) was a nightclub and theatre constructed in the Chelsea Hotel, Hillbrow (Berea?), Johannesburg in 19*. *

A number of new writers and performers launched their careers there, including ** , Sue Pam-Grant, ** In 1985 Famous Dead Man by Matthew Krouse and Robert Colman ran here for 8 weeks, Kevin Feather created and co-starred with Malcolm Terrey in Jo’burg Follies in 1986. Ian Fraser starred in Bring Me Gandhi in August 1987. Susan Pam-Grant’s Curl Up and Dye under Lucille Gillwald’s direction was staged here in 1989. *** (Tucker, 1997)
