COONEY, Ray. (19*-) British Playwright and director. ** Together with Tony Hilton he wrote One for the Pot which the Academy staged in December of 1967. Hymie Udwin, Yango John and Dave Levin imported Colin Welland and Basil Lord to star in this production, directed by Lord. He wrote, directed and starred in Not Now, Darling, together with Rex Garner, at The Academy Theatre of Laughter in 1967. His Uproar in the House was staged at The Academy Theatre of Laughter in July 1967. He directed, and co-wrote Move over Mrs. Markham, together with John Chapman. It was staged at the Academy in 1971 and became the company’s longest-running farce. Pieter Toerien presented his farce Run for Your Wife starring Rex Garner and Michael Richard at the Alhambra Theatre in February 1984. His Two into One was staged by Pieter Toerien at the André Huguenet Theatre with Rex Garner and Tim Plewman in 1986. Rex Garner directed his Wife Begins at Forty at the Alhambra Theatre in 1987. His Out of Order was staged at the Alhambra Theatre in 1992. His Uproar in the House was staged at the André Huguenet Theatre in 1992. His It Runs in the Family was staged at the Alhambra Theatre in 1993.
