Playback Theatre, is a concept evolved and founded in the US in 1975, in which the audience is put in the driving seat of the creative process, It uses music, a couple of props and costumes, and some dynamic theatre skills to transform audience members' stories, without script, score or rehearsal, into mini stage productions in the blink of an eye.

In South Africa this idea was taken up by the Bonfire Theatre Company in Cape Town, ***
