Play It Again, Sam is a play by Woody Allen [1].

The original text

It opened on February 12, 1969 and ran for 453 performances starring the author, Diane Keaton and Anthony Roberts.

Translations and adaptations

Allen, Keaton and Roberts would reprise their roles in the film version of the play in 1972 (directed by Herbert Ross).

Performance history in South Africa

1978: Staged at The Space (Cape Town) in 1978, directed by Brian Astbury with Gillian Burl, Pippa Duffy, Andrea Fine, Liz Hardy, Errol Hart, Peter Hirschson, Tom St Clair-Laing and Prism Schultz. Design by John Nankin and Marge Watson, lighting by Brian Astbury, costumes by Yvonne van der Heul and Birrie le Roux and stage management by Arthur Benjamin.

1979: Produced at the Market Theatre in 1979 starring Peter J. Elliott, Bill Flynn (taking the Woody Allen part), Leonie Hofmeyr, Sybel Coetzee, Dale Cutts and Beverley Melnick.
