Mr Murphy (fl. mid 19th century) was a Cape Town resident and amateur comedian.

Biography

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

He was a member of the Alfred Dramatic Club (later the Royal Alfred Dramatic Club) in the period 1860-61.

He is specifically mentioned as a performer on 22 August and 15 September, 1860, when Parry put on The Irish Tutor (Butler)and The Maid and The Magpie, or The Fatal Spoon (Byron).
