Monica Breed (1923?-2021) was a well known and beloved radio actress, director and presenter, and a playwright.

Sometimes also credited as Monica Breedt.

Biography

Born in Reitz, Monica was raised in Bloemfontein.

She passed away in Pretoria on 25 May 2021.

Contribution to South African theatre, media, film and performance

As a young woman a member of the Bloemfonteinse Teatergroep. In 1947 she joined the SABC. Initially worked in Europe, returned in the 1960s to work at the SABC studios in Durban, and finally at the SABC head offices in Johannesburg.
