Met Permissie Gesê ("Said with [your] permission") is an Afrikaans cabaret by Hennie Aucamp (1934-2014).

The original text

A groundbreaking political cabaret, (a specific genre referred to as kabaret in Afrikaans by Aucamp) about the political crisis of the country under Apartheid, first performed in 1980.

Text and lyrics by Hennie Aucamp with music by Jannie Hofmeyr, Laurika Rauch, Lettie Pretorius, Enrique Breytenbach, Louis van Rensburg, J.C. Stemmet and Jan de Wet.

The text first published by Tafelberg Uitgewers in 1980.

Performance history in South Africa

1980: Premièred by the Universiteitsteater Stellenbosch in the H.B. Thom Theatre in September, directed by Herman Pretorius, with Dup du Plessis (MC), Hélène Truter (his Spouse) and Koba Wicomb, Jeannine Wolhuter, Johan Rademan, Gaynor Calitz, Jannie Hofmeyr, Edie Henn, June van Merch, Herman Binge, Randall Wicomb, Anton Smith, Niel le Roux, Davida Day, Theresa Marais, Sharon Theron, Johann van Heerden, Kobus Hanekom and Pamela Moag. Orchestra led by Koba Wicomb, choreography by Esther Nasser, costumes by Elaine Aucamp, lighting by Emile Aucamp.

1981: A professional production, directed by Janice Honeyman and featuring Laurika Rauch, Amanda Strydom, Bill Curry, and Graham Clarke, Gerben Kamper, Kobus Kleynhans,Sam Marais, Rina Nienaber, Annelise van der Ryst and musician Clarabelle van Niekerk was first produced at the Market Theatre (as the opening production of the venue called The Market Kabaret) and at the Oude Libertas Theatre in Stellenbosch.

1982: Presented by SUKOVS Toneel, directed by Marco van der Colff, at the Observatory Theatre in Bloemfontein from 31 July to 14 August. Decor by Johan Badenhorst, costumes by James Parker, music by noel Stockton, choreography by Jasmine Antonie.
