Studied for the Diploma in Speech, Elocution and Drama at the University of Stellenbosch in 1949-50. Member of the SA Guild of Speech and Drama Teachers (later made a life-long honorary member) and a founder member of the Raad van Afrikaanse Beoordelaars (“Council of Afrikaans Judges”).
