Afrikaans word for a stage magician, someone who practices or performs kulkuns or stage magic, in the sense of sleight-of-hand and illusion, as an art form. This is in clear contrast to a towernaar, which refers to a person who is (believed to by) actually able to practice magic as a paranormal activity, i.e. a Wizard or Sorcerer.

Viewed as a theatrical performance for the purposes of this encyclopaedia.
