Joseph Mitchell is stage, film and TV actor, playwright and director, puppeteer and poet.



Biography

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

He has toured with his plays and puppet shows through large parts of the country, inter alia performing at the Vrystaat Arts Festival, the Grahamstown Festival, and various schools and churches throughout the Cape Flats.

He has also run workshops and did shows for children of various ages.

His plays include Wat is Vryheid, performed in die Arena at the Nico Malan Theatre.

A copy of a typed playtext called Wie de hel is Johnny P. Adams en waarom sing hy die Blues?, written by Melvin Whitebooi in collaboration with Joseph Mitchell was found in the Stellenbosch Drama Department archives in 2022.
