Jody Abrahams (1974-) Stage and TV Actor.

Biography

Born in Cape Town, where he grew up with his grandparents. He matriculated from St George's Grammar School in 1991.

Twice married. He married actress Diaan Lawrenson in St Martin's-in-the-Veld Anglican Church in Rosebank, Johannesburg in March 2014. They have two children, Olivia-Rose and James.

Training

He had no formal training, but was exposed to theatre as a child, and had his first role at the age of seven, with a line in a production of The Ha’Penny Opera.

Production

Founder and co-producer (with Diaan Lawrenson) of Jester Productions.

Films include Safe House (2012), The Quarry (1998) and American Ninja 4: The Annihilation (1990).

For Television

Television has provided a steady income, and among the series he has appeared in are Scandal!, Hard Copy, Backstage, Interrogation Room, 7de Laan and Fishy Feshuns.

Awards, etc

Awards include, besides a number of Fleur du Cap Awards and Vita Awards locally, the Sir Laurence Olivier Award for Kat and the Kings(1999) and a Tony nomination for the same production.
