He was married to the actress Pikkie van Niekerk.

Training
Career
Became a professional when he joined Wena Naudé's company in 1939. In 1944 he founded an own company with his wife Pikkie van Niekerk and subsequently joined the National Theatre Organisation company.
Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
For NTO he has appeared in Oupa Brompie, Minnaar onder die Wapen, Die Indringer and Die Ryk Weduwee. In 1961 he played Kreon in Antigone. Roles for PACT include Montserrat, Bruidjie Dit en Bruidjie Dot, Twaalfde Nag and Die Onwillige Weduwee.
