G. E. Bulger

Captain G.E. Bulger was a member of the North Lincolnshire Regiment of Foot and served in Grahamstown and Keiskama Hoek between 1860 and 1862 during the Frontier War.


Biography

He was one of the Officers of the Regiment who produced shows for the entertainment of the troops and nearby civilians.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

October 8, 1860: The Rivals (Faulkland) at Garrison Theatre in Grahamstown.

April 5, 11 & 19, 1861: Don't Judge By Appearances (Major Pepper).

September 9 & 12, 1861: Only a Halfpenny (Mr Fitzroy Plantagenet).

December 28 & 30, 1861, repeated on January 20, 1862: A Lucky Hit (Baron de Ville Blanche, a courtier).

August 30, September 11 & 19, 1862: The Royal Quixote (Gustavus Adolphus, King of Sweden), Don't Judge by Appearances (Major Pepper) at the Garrison Theatre in Keiskama Hoek.
