(1979-) Radio and television personality and producer. (Also known as Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp).

Biography

Born and raised in Cape Town, she matriculated from Parow High School in 1997. In 2001 she moved to Gauteng, and in 2011 she moved back to Cape Town. She married media personality Ian Bredenkamp in early 2013.

Training

She originally enrolled at Stellenbosch University to do a business degree but switched to a B.Dram. degree in the Drama Department, majoring in Drama and Theatre.

Her university degree was cut short in 2001 when she was offered a TV presenting in Gauteng.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

As a student she appeared on stage in Karnaval, The Contingency Plan, The War of the Worlds and Robin Hood.

She began her TV career as a co-host on the Afrikaans entertainment show Jip on KykNet (2001-2007), and going on to present numerous shows on KykNet , M-Net, GO, SABC Africa, SuperSport, SABC3 .

Her radio career also took off in 2001 as the presenter of an early-morning radio show on Jacaranda 94.2 (2001-2004), followed by a national weekend radio slot on 5FM and later on 94.5FM.

Since June 2005 she runs her own creative agency, EAWorks, producing shows and inserts for DSTV Channel 123, VUZU and others.

In 2007 she played the role of Elana in the comedy film Footskating 101. She also performed in the TV series Fynskrif in 2019.
