Du Vent dans les Branches de Sassafras ("The wind in the branches of [the] Sassafras [tree]") is a French comedy in two acts by René de Obaldia (1918-)[1].

The original text

Created and first performed by the Théâtre de Poche de Bruxelles in Belgium in 1964, opening on 17 February, 1965, then played at the Théâtre Gramont (Paris) and Les Célestins (Lyon). Repeated many times thereafter.

Translated into Afrikaans as Die Wind in die Takke van Sassafras by Nerina Ferreira (1921-2012).

Performance history in South Africa

1974: Performed by the Afrikaans company of CAPAB directed by Peter Kleinschmidt at the Nico Malan Theatre (16 August to 7 September) and the H.B. Thom Theatre (10 to 14 September 1974) starring Percy Sieff, Sandra Kotzé, Grethe-Maria Fox, Pierre van Pletzen, Mees Xteen, Johan Malherbe, Liz Dick, Paul Malherbe, Chris Bartlett. Designed by Manfred Glaesmann, costumes by Krista Urban, lighting by Pieter de Swardt.

1986: Presented by PACOFS in 1986, directed by Pierre van Pletzen with Helene Truter, André Lombard, Annemarie Rauh, André-Jacques van der Merwe, Pierre van Pletzen.
