Die Buite-Egtelike Ouma ("The Illegitimate Grandma") is a farce by Nico Luwes.

Adapted for a male lead and renamed Die Buite-Egtelike Oupa in 2023.

Performance history in South Africa

1988: Staged by PACT in the State Theatre Arena in February, directed by Pierre van Pletzen, with Hannes Muller (Dr Jeff Johnson), Jurgen Hellberg (Dr Koos Cruiwagen), Michele Burgers (Jeanette Dekker), Marchelle Verwey (Zahn Volhand) and Lida Meiring (Ida Johnson).

The play

A comedy about a dentist who has a bit of a boisterous night out before leaving for England for a year. On his return he is visited by a young woman who looks vaguely familiar, plus his excited father and his friend, bearing a special bottle of champagne. Chaos ensues.
