Cyril Cusack (1910-1993) is a South African born stage, film and television actor.

Biography

Born Cyril James Cusack in Durban on 26 November 1910, he went to England with his mother, an actress and chorus girl, and they later settled in Ireland.

Though he apparently never performed in South Africa, he became an actor for the famous Abbey Theatre in Dublin, in 1947, forming his own company to do productions in Dublin, Paris and New York and in 1963 joined the Royal Shakespeare Company for several seasons. He also appeared in numerous films and television productions between 1918 and 1993.

All his children are involved in theatre and media work.

He died in London on 7 October 1993.
