Cowboy Mouth is a one act play by Sam Shepard [1] and Patti Smith [2].

The original text

Premiered at The American Place Theatre, New York City in 1971.

Translations and adaptations

Translated into Afrikaans entitled Heiland by Birrie le Roux, produced at the Woordfees 2013.

Performance history in South Africa

1980: Director Sam Shepard (this is probably a mistake, since no evidence could be found that he ever visited South Africa). Cast members including Jeremy Crutchley, Michele Maxwell, Mkhosi "Eddie" McAndi at the Market Theatre. Another source states that Charles Comyn was the director.
