HOPE, Christopher. (1944-?). Journalist, poet, novelist and dramatist. Born in Johannesburg and educated at the Universities of the Witwatersrand and Natal, Hope emigrated to England in 1975. He has been the recipient of various literary awards, particularly for his novels. Author of the TV play Ducktails (1981) and Variations on the Offside Rule.** In 2007 he initiated the idea of the Franschhoek Literary Festival and became its first Director.
