Bergen en Dalen ("mountains and dales") is a Dutch version of an unnamed German play in two acts by Julius Roderich Benedix (1811-1873)[1]

The original text

The Dutch translation was done by Jan Schuitemaker (fl. 1865). Published for the Rederijkers in Purmerende by Schuitemaker, 1868.

Translations and adaptations

Performance history in South Africa

1868: Performed by Aurora II in the hall of the Germania Liedertafel in Cape Town on 4 June, with Ferdinand de Speler (Nieuwmeyer).

1873: Performed in Dutch by Aurora II in the Oddfellows Hall, Cape Town, on 8 May, with De Diamanten der Kroon (Scribe, et al.).
