Professional Afrikaans theatre company, launched in 1947.

Founding and early history

Company formed in Paarl in 1947 by actor/director André Rousseau after his return from a stay in London during the latter years of WWII. Its first production was Liefde in Satyn, an Afrikaans translation and adaptation of Sheridan's The Rivals, premièred in March 1947.
