A play by Noel Langley and Robert Morley, about a ruthless businessman and and his alcoholic wife.

First performed in 1948 in London and New York, with Robert Morley, Peggy Ashcroft, Ian Hunter and Leueen McGrath.

Film version directed by George Cukor with Spencer Tracy and Deborah Kerr and Leueen McGrath. (1949)

1950: Performed by the Brian Brooke company in 1950 at the Hofmeyr Theatre, Cape Town, directed by Gabriel Toyne, with Gabriel Toyne, Nigel Hawthorne, Brian Brooke (as Arnold Holt), Petrina Fry, Shaun Sutton and others.
