Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre
Named after Professor Elizabeth Sneddonwho had founded it as a theatre for the University of Natal, Durban, Drama Department It is situated on the campus of the University of Natal, Durban, and it has a steeply-raked, 384-seater auditorium, with proscenium and thrust. Opened 22nd June 1981 with Nikolai Erdman’s The Suicide (C : 1928) and a two-week Theatre in Focus Festival. Presents a wide range of productions and festivals (Shakespeare, dance, musicals, new plays, film etc) by the University of Natal Department of Drama and visiting companies.
From 1996, under the control of the University’s Centre for Creative Arts. [McM]
