KLAASTE, Aggrey. (1940-) Journalist and editor. As a young writer he wrote for S’ketsh and The World on theatre matters. From the mid-1980s he was the respected editor of the influential Sowetan and played a influential though pragmatists role in the transition period in the 1990s. Vigorous promotor of the notion of nation-building, he received a KWV Excellence Award in 1988 and was elected Chairman of the Trustees of Education Africa.
