Carol Michèle Kaplan (19**-). Director, Playwright, Scriptwriter. Also credited as Carol Kaplan.

Biography

Training

Quoted from the programme notes of Jocasta Rising which she directed in 2004: 'Studied theatre at the Universities of Cape Town and Natal before heading to the United States to join the playwriting programme at Yale Drama School. Graduating with an MFA in playwriting, Carol also attended the American Film Institute Centre for Advanced Film Studies in Los Angeles to study screenwriting.'

Career

Quote continued: ...'She has written and directed for the stage in the United States and in South Africa, and has written screenplays and teleplays, two of which have been produced for U.S. television. Carol has received numerous awards and nominations for her writing and is a member of the Writers Guild of America. She is delighted to be returning to South Africa to celebrate ten years of democracy, and is privileged to have the opportunity to work with this incredible talented cast and creative team.'

She wrote and directed Wildcoast at the Grahamstown Festival, 1990.
