GWALA, Mafika Pascal. (1946-) Cultural theorist, editor and poet. Edited the periodical Black Review in the 1970s. His works include Jol’inkomo (1977) and No More Lullabies (1982). In a 1973 article in South African Outlook he dismisses the inheritance of theatre based on the European model as “irredeemably colonial and therefore unsuitable for a proper African National Theatre”, which he feels should offer a true representaton of the nation and not be mere entertainment He was a prominent member of Mihloti.
