As a student at the University of Cape Town Drama Department he performed in Little Malcolm and his Struggle against the Eunuchs in 1967.

He was involved in workshopping Orestes with Athol Fugard and Yvonne Bryceland for the CAPAB Laboratory. Then worked for The Space on People are Living There, Bar and Ger, Dimetos, The Glass Menagerie, Medea and Occupations. **

He starred in Marat/Sade aka The Persecution of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade 1976. in People are Living There 1977. in Absurd Person Singular, 1977, Luv 1977. El Grande de Coca-Cola for PACT in 1979., ’Lone Star’’ and Pvt. Wars The Rivals 1983. A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum 1983. Glengarry Glen Ross 1985. True West at the Market Theatre in 1985.

Won the Three Leaf Award for Best Actor in 1967 (first time awarded to a student) and 1975.
