This is a global coalition of artists, cultural activists and cultural organisations from 52 countries, committed to preserving and promoting cultural diversity in and among nations in the face of the increasing power of global rules for trade and services and cultural  homogenisation.  The [[INCD]] organises an annual conference that is held parallel to that of the ministerial network (an annual get together of the ministers responsible for culture in those countries).  The third annual conference was held in Cape Town from 11-13 October 2002 with the theme: Fostering Cultural Diversity and Development: Local, National and Global Strategies.
