1971: The South African première of the play in English was presented by [[CAPAB]] Drama at the [[Nico Malan Theatre]] on 28 August 1971, directed by [[Nicholas Wright]], assisted by [[Pietro Nolte]]. Set designed by [[Raimond Schoop]] assisted by [[Penny Simpson]], costumes by [[Aubrey Couling]], original music by [[Michael Tuffin]]. [[Michael Atkinson]] played Johannes Kurmann, [[Helen Bourne]] Antoinette and [[Kerry Jordan]] Recorder. They were supported by a large cast, among others [[Peter Voigt]], [[Arthur Hall]], [[John Whiteley]], [[Glynn Day]], [[Molly Thompson]], [[Alan Prior]], [[Kathleen Lee]], [[Marion Achber]], [[Ronald France]], [[Gay Morris]], [[Michael Drin]], [[Nerina Ferreira]], [[Wilson Dunster]], [[Elliot Playfair]], [[Liz Dick]] and [[Johann Malherbe]].
