Die Vestiging van die Volk is a historical drama in 7 scenes (tableaux?) by Francois Marais.

The original text

According to the commemorative programme (page 8) it's seven scenes were titled: Toneel 1 ("Scene 1"): “Die Kaap” ("The Cape"); Toneel 2: “Die Oosgrens” ("the Eastern border"); Toneel 3: “Die Gelofte” ("The Vow"); Toneel 4: “Neerlaag” ("Defeat"); Toneel 5: “Die seëninge” ("Blessings"); Toneel 6: Oorwinning” ("Victory"), Toneel 7: “Die hede” ("The present").

The text does not seem to have been published.

Performance history in South Africa

1962: Performed on 15 en 16 Desember as part of the Day of the Covenant celebrations by the NTO (the National Theatre Organisation) in the Amphitheatre of the Voortrekker Monument in Pretoria, directed by Anna Neethling-Pohl.
