The name is written in varied ways in sources, including De Wonder Doctor, De Wonderdoctor  and De Wonder Docter, of Le Médecin Malgré Lui (whether this was the way it appeared in Bosman's sources , and/or if this was sloppiness by Bosman himself is uncertain.)

The name of the original French play is similarly a source of uncertainty, for the tiotle giv en by Bosman op page 444 suggests that it is actually a Dutch translation of Le Médecin Malgré Lui ("Doctor in spite of Himself"), but another candidate would also be Le Médecin volant ("The Flying Doctor") by Molière.
