Prophets in the Black Sky is a play by John Matshikiza (1950-2008).

The original text

The world premiere production of the play was by the Bristol Express Theatre Co., date and venue unknown. It was the policy of Bristol Express to commission and or present plays from writers on themes instigated by the company.

Published by Polyptoton in association with Lo Honyera, 1985.

1992: A Market Theatre production of the play was staged in the Upstairs Theatre from 23 November 1992, directed by John Matshikiza, starring Sello Maake ka Ncube, Thembi Mtshali, Owen Sejake. Set and costume designer Chris Paizis, stage management possibly by Alan Joseph.
