An exploration of the time Saartjie Baartman (the "Hottentot Venus") [1] spent, transported as cargo, on a sailing ship from South Africa to Europe in the early 1800s.

Translations and adaptations

Performance history in South Africa

2014: Staged by Dance Forum, in collaboration with the Forgotten Angle Theatre Collaborative and the Fortune Cookie Theatre Company at the Grahamstown Festival, directed by Sylvaine Strike, with performers Daniel Buckland and William Harding and dancers Fana Tshabalala, Nosiphiwo Samente, Thami Majela, Irven Teme, Charlston van Rooyen and Thulani Chauke. Music by Concord Nkabinde and choreography by P.J. Sabbagha. Set and costume design by Sasha Ehlers. The same production was staged in the Market Theatre after the festival.
