Soekie is an Afrikaans film by Daan Retief.

The film

Based on the novel Die Hele Dorp Weet ("The whole town knows") by Santie Grosskopf, it tells of a girl who goes in search of her father after the parents decide to divorce and explores the devastating effects of a divorce on a family.

The film was produced by Bill Troskie for Constantia Films in 1975. The screenplay was by Santie Grosskopf and Daan Retief, the film directed by Daan Retief with a cast that included Erna van der Bergh, Petru Wessels, Dawid van der Walt and Wena Naudé.

This was the second time the novel had been filmed, a first version, called Die Hele Dorp Weet, was made in 1961 by Carfo films. (See the entry on Die Hele Dorp Weet for information on the first version.)
