The original text
According to Nicoll (2009), the play was first performed at the Royal Theatre, London in 1863, published in London by T.H. Lacy and Samuel French, 1863 and in Chicago by the Drama Publishing Company [n.d.]
Interestingly, if Nicoll and other sources are correct, it appears that it may have been first performed in South Africa on June 21 1862.
