Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance
One of the highlights of Levenson's career was when, after playing Vente the matchmaker in Fiddler on the Roof for PEMADS in Port Elizabeth, she was asked to play the part professionally in Cape Town for CAPAB in 1985, receiving rave reviews.
Over the years she appeared in Shakespearean plays including King Lear, pantomimes and children’s theatre, dramas like The Grapes of Wrath and Tennessee Williams's The Glass Menagerie.
Levenson also made a name for herself as the writer of the comedy play Ah Beg Yaws and director of Crown Matrimonial, Busy Body, Ladies in Retirement and Winter Journey.
Awards, etc.
She won a best actress award in 1987 for her role in 84 Charing Cross Road.
