De Assurantie ("the assurance") is a humorous monologue in Dutch by Melt J. Brink (1842-1925).

De Assurantie appears to have been an ad hoc satirical piece, written and read by the author for a special occasion.

Performance history in South Africa

1910: Performed (read) by the author on 8 November in the ANV Saal, Cape Town (the hall of the Algemeen Nederlandsch Verbond) under the auspices of Aurora III, an afterpiece to the one-act plays Bekroond (Bosch) and Een Gevaarlijke Sujet ( Gorlitz/Franzen). The Prime Minister, Gen. Louis Botha and the Minister of Education, F.S. Malan were the patrons for the evening.
