Les Prisonniers de Guerre is a one-act comedy by Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712–1778)[1]

The original text

The tale of a French soldier held prisoner in Hungary, who is torn between duty to his country and his love for the daughter of an enemy.

Probably written in 1743 and first published in Genève, 1782.
