Mariechen Naudé (1919-2006) She was an academic, journalist and also writer of children's literature (published by Tafelberg Publishers). She was also an actress and director.

Biography

Youth

Training

She was trained at the University of Stellenbosch.


Career

Mariechen was a founding member of the University of the Orange Free State Drama Department. She was a member of the board of the Bloemfonteinse Teatergroep for many years, some of them as chairman. In the 1960s she was a lecturer in speech and drama at the University of the Free State.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Some of her many roles were in productions such as 'n Poppehuis, Die Heks, Ek Onthou vir Mamma, Vername Mense, Agt Vroue, The Holly and the Ivy, The Waltz of the Toreadors and Macbeth.

Awards, etc
