For many years, Mavis was a music teacher in East London.

Contribution to SA theatre, film, media and/or performance

Mavis was actively involved in theatre in East London. She was musical director for Jack and the Beanstalk for the Arts Theatre Club in 1980. Other productions as musical director included The King and I, The Wizard of Oz, Carousel, Show Boat, Cinderella, Something's Afoot.

She composed music and lyrics for productions of Peter Pan and The Xmas That Was.
