We Bombed in New Haven

We Bombed in New Haven by Joseph Heller an American satirical novelist, short story writer, and playwright (1923-1999). The play, written in 1969, delivered an anti-war message while discussing the Vietnam War. It was originally produced by the Repertory Company of the Yale Drama School, with Stacy Keach in the starring role. After a slight revision, it was published by Alfred A. Knopf and then debuted on Broadway, starring Jason Robards.

Performance history in South Africa

Produced by The Space (Cape Town) in 1972 (1973?), directed by Mavis Taylor originally, with Pieter-Dirk Uys taking over when she fell ill. The cast consisted of Allen Ambor, Phillip Boucher, Steve Braude, Martin Clohessy, Chris Consani, Bill Flynn, Marc Isaacs, Bruce Kelly, Hans Kuilman, Icky Kurgan, Paddy Lee-Thorp, Simon Rappaport, Carolyn Sacks, Jeff Shapiro and Michael Viljoen. Stage management by Bee Berman, design by Pieter-Dirk Uys and lighting by Jeff Shapiro.
