Waiting for the Rain is a play by John Tucker (1994). Winner, in 1994, of the last Amstel Playwright of the Year Award.

According to the author the play is about hope. It features two characters, a White farmer and an African maid. Amid shootings and violence, they ponder the future and, in the process, project a degree of optimism.
