W.K. Tamsanqa (1928-1998) is a Xhosa playwright and novelist.

Also known as Witness K. Tamsanqa, Witness Kholekile Tamsanqa.


Biography

Besides his theatre work, wrote a number of novels, including Inzala kaMlungisi ("Mlungisi's descendents", 1954), .


Contribution to South African theatre, film, media and performance

His wrote one well known play, Buzani Kubawo (“Ask father” – Xhosa, translated into Tswana entitled Botsang Rre), published in 1958, republished 1998. Also broadcast as a serial by the SABC.

Awards, etc.

In award year 2009 he was one of the Lifetime Achiever winners (SA Literary Awards).
